On April 4, Eleven Media Group reported that the body of Joa, the 2018 Myanmar Tourism Queen Sili Mee, was found dead after the devastating earthquake on March 28.
Sili Mee lived in the Sky Villa building in Mandalay, the second largest city in Myanmar, at the time of the disaster. After 6 days buried in the rubble, the beauty had no chance of survival. The Miss Tourism Myanmar organization confirmed the sad news.
Sili Mee, 28 years old, is Miss Tourism Myanmar 2018 and is the representative of Myanmar at the Miss Tourism World 2018 pageant. Before her death, Sili Mee had a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Meiktila University of Economics.
Sili Mee was one of nearly 3,000 people killed in Myanmar after a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck on March 28. At least 14 aftershocks measuring over 4.0 magnitude have since hit the country. The natural disaster has caused many houses and structures in Myanmar to collapse. Millions of people have been left in dire straits.
After the earthquake, Miss Grand Myanmar 2024 Thae Su Nyein posted a video about the plight of the people of Myanmar and asked for help from the international community. The beauty queen said that Myanmar is facing many difficulties, many people lack food, drink and accommodation. In the video, Thae Su Nyein dressed simply and modestly, taking to the streets to deliver supplies to people in need.
