Johnny Depp bragged about the dismal state of his teeth in a 1995 Premiere magazine interview that resurfaced this week.
The remarks were unearthed by Page Six after Johnny’s appearance at the Cannes Film Festival this Tuesday, which prompted fans to troll him for his ‘rotten’ gnashers.
In the Premiere article, Johnny declared: ‘I’ve got loads of cavities. I had a root canal done eight years ago that’s unfinished. It’s like a rotten little stub.’
He insisted: ‘But I like it. It’s like when the Indians would make something beaded, they would always put imperfections on it.’
Johnny, who at the time of the interview was 31, indicated his uneven bottom teeth and said: ‘I’m proud of these.’

‘I’ve got loads of cavities’: In the Premiere article, Johnny dished: ‘I had a root canal done eight years ago that’s unfinished,’ adding: ‘It’s like a rotten little stub’
The Edward Scissorhands star added: ‘When I see people with perfect teeth, it drives me up the wall. I’d rather swallow a tick than have that!’
His interviewer marveled that he managed not to have foul-smelling breath – this in spite of his dental condition plus the cigarettes and wine he had just indulged in.
Fans said he looked like Captain Jack Sparrow as he showed off his ‘rotten’ smile while launching his comeback at Cannes on Tuesday.
The actor, 59, received a seven-minute standing ovation at the premiere of his film Jeanne du Barry after his blockbuster court trial saw his ex-wife Amber Heard ordered to pay him $8million in damages.
But fans couldn’t help but pick up on the actor’s smile and how his browning teeth showed visible signs of decay as he posed for photographers on the red carpet.
Johnny recently signed a $20million cologne deal with Dior, thanks to his striking looks and charm.
But unlike many Hollywood stars, the actor has shunned spending thousands on pearly white veneers or expensive composite bonding.
Social media commentators flocked to Twitter to urge Johnny to go to the dentist.

‘Very, very, very inspired to brush my teeth, floss and use a tongue scraper every time I see a pic of Johnny Depp at Cannes,’ one user said.
‘@Dior Johnny Depp needs to see a dentist. His teeth make him look unhealthy,’ another wrote.
‘Johnny Depp’s teeth appear to be rotting,’ a third chimed.
‘Johnny Depp appears to have forgotten to brush his teeth this morning,’ a different Tweet read.
But a different user said: ‘If Johnny Depp doesn’t want fake ultra white teeth he doesn’t need them. I have seen a lot worse as well.’
Johnny is known for transforming his smile depending on the roles he plays. For Pirates of the Caribbean he had extensive gold capping of his teeth.
He held onto the gold caps until filming closed on the third installment of the franchise.
Johnny has also been open about his battle with substance abuse and told the court during the defamation trial he’d tried ‘every kind of drug known to man’ by age 14.

Drug use can erode tooth enamel and expose the underlying dentine to decay-causing bacteria.
During the premiere on Tuesday, Johnny welled up with tears as he received a seven minute standing ovation for his comeback film.
The acclaimed actor – who plays King Louis XV in the period drama – teared up while taking in the moment with director and co-star Maïwenn by his side.
The film is his first project since he was blackballed by Hollywood in the years following his ex-wife Amber Heard‘s abuse allegations in 2016.
But after a six-week trial last year, it was determined that Amber had defamed her ex-husband and she was ordered to pay him over $8million in damages — though they later agreed on $1million in order to put an end to their legal battle.
The Cry-Baby heartthrob was greeted with applause and supported by a sea of adoring fans upon his arrival.
