NBA Most Valuable Player Lebron James gave 16-year-old leukemia patient Jackie Custer a warm hug and gifted her a Cavs jersey at the Cleveland Cavaliers Scrimmage

Basketball superstar LeBron James gave one young fan a night she will never forget during the Cleveland Cavaliers Wine and Gold Scrimmage.

The four time NBA Most Valuable Player award winner treated 16-year-old Leukaemia sufferer Jackie Custer to a heart warming embrace and a Cavs jersey at the event on Wednesday.

Custer had attended the match as one of several fans chosen to receive a jersey but wasn’t expecting it to arrive with a personal touch. The brave youngster tweeted pictures of her moment after the game, accompanied by the caption: ‘Literally shaking right now @KingJames thank you so much’.

Custer – whose cancer was also met with a stroke and infection – revealed that, after learning she would lose her hair following treatment, she pre-emptively cut it off and donated it to Locks of Love.

Meanwhile, James showed how cool he really is after taking on the Ice Bucket Challenge – before nominating US president Barack Obama to be next.

The Cavaliers star was dared by Oklahoma City Thunder’s Kevin Durant, actor Kevin Hart, former school team-mate Brandon Weems and Cavaliers DJ Steph Floss to pour a bucket of ice water over himself.
