Wicked fans have been rushing to buy the ‘tacky’ glasses that Elphaba wore in the film – and they only cost $26.

The long-anticipated movie adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical hit theaters on Friday, and it has already earned a record-breaking $114 million at the US box office.

Millions flocked to the cinema over the weekend to watch the Wizard of Oz prequel – which stars Ariana Grande as Glinda the Good Witch and Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West.

And afterwards, many of the movie’s die-hard fans sought out clothes and accessories that looked similar to those the women wore in the film so they could dress up as their favorite characters.

One person on X, formerly Twitter, even found a pair of round glasses that looked exactly like the ones that Elphaba sported for the first half of the flick on the website Zeelool for just $26.

Immediately, fans rushed to purchase the spectacles, despite claims from some that they were ‘tacky’ and ‘cheap’ looking.

One woman shared a snap of the glasses laying on her bed, which she captioned, ‘My Elphie glasses came in time [to see the movie].’

Another posted a photo of herself wearing them and wrote, ‘If you have nothing else to make you smile this week, at least let me help in my Elphaba glasses, team Wicked Witch shirt, and Glinda crown/wand.’

Others admitted that they hadn’t gotten them yet, but were considering it.

‘So like, do I buy the $20 Zelool glasses to be Elphaba for Halloween next year or…’ one user asked.

‘I really REALLY want Elphaba’s glasses,’ confessed someone else.

‘I kinda need [Elphaba’s glasses],’ read another tweet.

A different person begged, ‘Someone please tell me to not buy Elphaba’s glasses.’

When someone else branded them as ‘cheap, tacky, and lazy,’ fans were quick to come to the glasses’ defense.

Just cheap, tacky, and lazy,’ the user, named Will, wrote alongside the screenshot of the glasses for sale on Zelool’s website.

‘I don’t care that Elphaba’s glasses were off the rack. They looked really cute and suited the art direction of the film,’ a different user fired back.

‘The glasses match the aesthetic of the movie and her character. Why do they need to spend $1,000 to impress y’all?’ said another person.

‘Y’all truly just picking things to criticized. Anyway, thanks for plugging me in.’

The movie premiered on Friday earned a whopping $114 million at the US box office opening weekend, the most for any musical adaptation ever.

It got another $50.2 million internationally for a global take of $164,180,000, according to The Numbers.

Previously, Into the Woods, released in 2014, held the record after earning $31 million in its opening weekend.
