Olivia Rodrigo and The 1975 are set to headline Glastonbury 2025.
Matty Healy and his band will take to the Pyramid stage Friday as the Guts singer performs the Sunday slot at the U.K.’s biggest music festival, running June 25-29 at Worthy Farm, Somerset.
Neil Young, Charli XCX, Noah Kahan, The Prodigy, Raye, Loyle Carner, Gracie Abrams and more have also been confirmed to perform, alongside the previously announced Rod Stewart, who has nabbed the fest’s Legends slot.
It will be a first Glastonbury headline performance for Rodrigo and The 1975. The American singer shot to stardom with her debut album Sour, known for songs “Drivers License,” “Good 4 U” and “Deja Vu,” later achieving more success with her second album, Guts.The 1975, fronted by Healy, are a British pop rock band from Cheshire who will no doubt understand the significance of playing Glastonbury. Their most popular hits include “Somebody Else,” “About You” and “Chocolate.”
Earlier this year, Young reversed his decision to pull out of playing Glastonbury after saying the event was under the BBC’s “corporate control.”
The Canadian-American singer had written on his website in January to explain that he and his new band, the Chrome Hearts, booked a slot at Worthy Farm this year but that they would no longer be playing as the BBC, a partner of Glastonbury, “wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in.”
“The Chrome Hearts and I were looking forward to playing Glastonbury, one of my all-time favorite outdoor gigs,” Young said. “We were told that BBC was now a partner in Glastonbury and wanted us to do a lot of things in a way we were not interested in. It seems Glastonbury is now under corporate control and is not the way I remember it being.”
Later, in a new post, the star said he had changed his mind upon the discovery of “an error in the information received.” The rocker wrote: “Due to an error in the information received, I had decided to not play the Glastonbury Festival, which I always have loved. Happily, the festival is now back on our itinerary and we look forward to playing. Hope to see you there!”
Rumors that Rihanna or Harry Styles would be rocking at Glastonbury have so far not been confirmed.
