Stephen Curry scored 40 points and hit seven 3-pointers in the Warriors’ 121-119 victory over the Nets in Brooklyn on Thursday. Jimmy Butler added 25 points and six assists in the win and was a game-high plus-17. The Warriors trailed by as many as 22 points in the first quarter and for just the second time in 24 tries, won a game in which they trailed after three quarters. The Dubs concluded their east-coast road trip with a 4-1 record and improved to 10-1 with Butler in the lineup.
CURRY SPARKS COMEBACK WITH ANOTHER HALFTIME BUZZER-BEATER
The Warriors trimmed an early 27-5 deficit to just five points by halftime. Stephen Curry ended the half with an unfathomable fadeaway buzzer-beater from the half court logo. The Warriors scored 40 points in a pivotal second quarter, outscoring the Nets by 15 points in the frame and took their first lead of the game in the third. Curry added 24 points in the second half, finishing with his second 40-point game of the season âboth of which came during this road trip.

BUTLER’S GAME-CHANGING IMPACTÂ
Jimmy Butler’s volume free throw shooting and mistake-free playmaking have helped the Warriors shore up two of their biggest deficiencies this season. In a game where many of the Warriors finished with a negative plus-minus, Butler was the biggest positive at plus-17. He shot a perfect 10-for-10 from the foul line and committed just one turnover, tallying 25 points, six assists and three steals. Butler’s impact was most felt with the second unit, as he helped the Warriors go plus-18 in the non-Curry minutes. The Dubs have earned their two biggest comeback wins of the season with Butler, having also overcome a 24-point deficit against the Bulls in Chicago in his debut.

Stephen Curry, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant and James Harden. What do all these players have in common? In addition to being all-time great players with numerous career accolades, all of these players have scored at least 50 points as visitors at Madison Square Garden. Madison Square Garden is one of the oldest and most famous arenas in sports, often referred to as the “mecca” of basketball and the home of the New York Knicks. On Tuesday, Curry played his 13th NBA game in the building and scored 20 of his 28 points in the second half en route to his 10th straight win âgiving him the longest active winning streak at Madison Square Garden.
“This is a place that naturally has great, unique, authentic basketball energy,” Curry said of playing in the Garden. “The fans are unreal. There are tons of celebrities in celebrity row â everybody is anticipating great basketball and it’s always delivered.”

Curry has consistently delivered on this stage, owning the highest Garden winning percentage among players who have played at least 10 games and averaged at least 10 points (92.3%). He has a 12-1 record and in his lone loss, he joined the exclusive 50-point club with 54 points and a Garden record 11 3-pointers on Feb. 27, 2014. Speaking of 3-pointers, Curry became the NBA’s all-time leader in made threes in the Garden on Dec. 14, 2021. On March 4, 2024, Curry eclipsed Vince Carter for the most made 3-pointers by a visiting player in the history of the building (65) despite having played in 17 fewer games. He is shooting 48.9 percent from behind the arc over that span, which is the third-highest mark among players with at least 50 attempts.
Curry hit two clutch threes in the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s win, including a heavily contested triple over a double team and a dagger trey from the left wing. A star amongst stars, Curry entertained the Garden crowd following his clutch buckets by shimmying and pump-faking his signature ‘Night Night’ celebration with a shoulder shrug before officially putting the Knicks to sleep.

Amidst a tight seeding battle in the thick of the Western Conference playoff race, Curry and the Warriors ended the night in sole possession of sixth place. Since winning All-Star Game MVP at Chase Center, Curry has averaged the fourth-most points in the league (28.4 PPG) and led the Warriors to a 6-1 record â tied for the third-best record in the league over that span. They will continue to lean on his greatness down the stretch as they seek to avoid the Play-In Tournament. Most importantly, the Warriors.
